Advent and Christmas are seasons filled with joyful expectation. During Advent, we look forward to the birth of the Savior. Mary recognized her lowly status in the world as a sign that God’s Son would bring deliverance to the marginalized people of the world.
Like Mary, our hope in Jesus should produce praise for his restorative work for the poor and humble of the world. Where in your church, school, city, or workplace might God be calling you to work for justice and peace?

Advent and Christmas are seasons filled with joyful expectation. During Advent, we look forward to the birth of the Savior. This morning we see that God’s punishment does not last forever. He brings restoration and joy back to his people through his forgiveness. When have you walked through a dark time and then experienced God’s restoration? Take that experience and relate it to the bigger restoration to come. One day God will make all things new. Rejoice in that!

Make space to consider the good news afresh, and let it provoke a strong response in you. Write a poem or journal entry. Go for a walk and pray. Turn off the car radio between errands and turn your heart to God. Paint or draw a picture. Sing a song. Engage your emotions in the story of Jesus. |
