This past week on my Blog, ThoughtsFromPastorSteve.com, I've been looking at some insight from a book titled The Eight Concepts of Bowen Theory, by Roberta Gilbert. It showed some serious problems in society, what Gilbert referred to as Social Regression, followed by some ways that we can use Family Systems Theory to turn things around.
This week, I start with her book, but then look to Scriptures to find a pattern that we can follow that get us back to the abundant life God has in mind for us.

We are finishing up our Hot Topics series today, for the last six week we looking at six tough topics that people inside and outside the church often think about (even if we don't ask about them out loud!).
Today we look at the topic of suffering. If God is all-good and all-powerful, why is there so much evil and suffering in the world? God is working his long game of redemption. Our hope is in trusting the character of the God who made us and loves us. I hope that we'll see that God is present with us, just as he has been present with creation all along. God feels our grief and carries our burdens; we can find comfort in a trusting relationship with the one who went to the cross for us and will ultimately wipe every tear from our eyes.
Sermons from Waverly First Baptist Church, Waverly, NY. This week we continue our series on Hot Topics, those tough topics that people inside and outside the church often think about (even if we don't talk about them out loud). This week we try to answer the question, "Is Jesus really the only way to heaven?"
How can Christianity claim there is only one way to God? God has opened a doorway to fellowship with him—and it is open to everyone and all creation. Through our radical love, service, and kindness, we can live out the good news of Jesus and show others the door God has opened. |
