Sermon from Waverly First Baptist Church, Waverly, NY. Today is the first Sunday in the Season of Advent. We start a new series titled the Grinch. Do you remember what the Grinch's problem was? His heart was too small. In our series we're going to learn from the Grinch some ways we can enlarge our heart. Today we look at the issue of purity. How do we develop a pure heart?
Today we finished our series titled I Love Jesus, but Hate... We've been looking at some of the objections that unchurched people have about going to church. Today we look at relevance. Some people say they love Jesus, or at least, don't have a problem with Jesus, they just don't think the church is relevant for them today. So we're talking about why I think the church is relevant.
Today, we continue our series with the message, I Love Jesus, But Churches Just Want My Money. Have you heard that objection before? Watching TV Evangelists certainly might give people the impression that the Church just wants their money. But what does the Bible say? What should our attitude be toward money?
Today we continue our series titled, I Love Jesus, But... Today we look at the Church. You know, a lot of people don't have a problem with Jesus, they wouldn't mind knowing more about Jesus, they just don't like the Church. Maybe they've seen something they didn't like, or got hurt by the Church. They might love Jesus, but they hate the Church.
Today we start a new series titled, I Love Jesus, But... This series discusses things that unbelievers don't like about us as the Church. Today we talk about hypocrisy. I'm sure we've all heard someone say the church is full of hypocrites. We'll dig deep to see why people think that way, and what we can do about.
