Today, we'll be looking into Hebrews 7, and we'll continue the understanding of Jesus as our High Priest, the primary theme of the book of Hebrews. Last week we saw that Jesus was a High Priest, and what that means for us, this week we'll expand on that, and see why Jesus is a better High Priest than the Israelites had. We'll also touch on why we need a High Priest, many beleive that because of the cross, we can approach God without a priest, and we'll look into that.

Today we start the book of Hebrews. We haven't looked at Hebrews often, but we'll be spending the next seven or so weeks here. Today, we'll be seeing that while Jesus used to communicate with us through prophets and through angels, He now speaks through His Son Jesus. Jesus is sufficent, God's Final Word.
We'll also see that Jesus is sufficient because He became like us, and is the author of our salvation. Everything we need to be right with God is found in Jesus. |
